Speeding sits outside the top 10 for drivers as a whole, but those aged 17-24 are much more likely to crash from driving too fast for the conditions.

According to some research that I have made, 93% of crashes are caused by driver inattention. In nearly half of those collisions, the driver didn’t take any kind of evasive action before impact.

  1. Failed to look properly 42%
  2. Failed to judge other person’s path or speed 21%
  3. Careless, reckless or in a hurry 16%
  4. Loss of control 14%
  5. Poor turn or manoeuvre 14%
  6. Pedestrian failed to look properly 10%
  7. Slippery road (due to weather) 10%
  8. Sudden braking 7%
  9. Travelling too fast for the conditions 7%
  10. Following too close 7%
